There are very few components of any type of system that are always the best choice regardless of how the system is being used. This is also true with environmental control systems where different requirements for all components in the system need to be considered to choose the ideal combination.
For any type of humidification from greenhouses to aging and storage rooms, having a humidity controller with the ability to provide the level of precise control and the features that are best suited for the system is important. Taking the time to look at different options will be a good starting point to get a good perspective on what is currently available on the market.
Humidity Levels
Most companies that make controllers will focus on two distinctly different types of systems. One is the standard controller, which will provide high levels of accuracy of control, typically plus or minus two percent, for humidity levels between ten and seventy percent.
This is most commonly used in commercial types of applications for processing, such as in paper and textiles manufacturing facilities as well as for storage and aging as found in wineries and the woodworking industry.
There are also humidity controller models that are designed for high humidity environments. These are specially designed controller units with additional protection to the microprocessor that eliminates the issues of condensation limiting the life of the unit.
Need for Remote Sensors
In some applications, there may be the requirement for a remote sensor away from the location of the controller. These accessories must be fully compatible with the humidity controller selected.
Purchasing remote sensors and necessary cabling from the same manufacturer as the control is the best option to ensure all components will integrate with the system.
