How to Pull Off the Perfect Kitchen Remodel

by | Oct 12, 2018 | Kitchen Renovation, Remodeling

Your kitchen is the heart of your home. From baking cookies with your mother to make your first meals on your to welcoming your own children to the table for holiday dinners, your fondest memories are built around this room. It only makes sense that you would want to improve it or upgrade it to make it the best that it can be.

Kitchen remodeling can be tricky business, though. Many people find the process more stressful and tiring than they ever imagined. Here’s how to survive your kitchen remodel with your sanity intact – and maybe even enjoy the process!

Be Prepared

This is about more than just having a plan in place. While planning is important, one of the biggest things you will need to be ready for is the controlled chaos that comes from a kitchen remodel. You’ll have to wash dishes in the bathroom or buy disposable dishes for weeks. You’ll have to eat takeout or go out to dinner a lot more than you might be planning to. Taking all of this into account and being ready for it will reduce the stress you feel during the remodel.

Think Small

When you’re planning a remodeling project, you may be tempted to knock out walls, replace huge appliances, change flooring, or redo color schemes. There’s certainly nothing wrong with these jobs if your room needs it, but kitchen upgrades can often be made with much less work – and less expense. Consider smaller changes like new lighting, upgraded appliances, adding a backsplash, or changing your fixtures to give the room a whole new look on a much smaller budget. You’d be surprised at just how big a difference those little swaps can make!
