The Extras of Outdoor Weddings

by | May 15, 2019 | Weddings

An outdoor wedding in a beautiful venue is an excellent way to start your life together. It’s important to remember, however, that outdoor events require a bit of extra planning. The best outdoor weddings are those planned with extra attention to outdoor details.

Keep it Comfortable

When planning an outdoor wedding, consider that Mother Nature is fiercely independent. She won’t change her plans to accommodate yours, so your big day could be rainy or incredibly hot. Set up tents or have an indoor space available in the event of rain or extreme heat. Place ice buckets filled with water bottles around the site and provide complimentary insect repellent sprays and sunscreen in bathrooms or somewhere else easily accessible.

Practical Considerations

Take pictures of and map out your chosen venue, noting where bathrooms, electrical outlets and running water are available. Use this information to plan the best layout for the area. DJ’s and caterers will need access to certain utilities, but you don’t want extension cords, hoses and other necessities to become a tripping hazard for guests or interfere with aesthetics.

Plan for Parking

Outdoor wedding venues aren’t always private. If you’re getting married on a beach or in a park, for example, there could be people there besides you and your guests. This can make for crowded parking lots. If your venue is one that might be busy on your big day, get permission to park your guests at a nearby location and shuttle them to the ceremony.

The best outdoor weddings are those remembered for the right reasons rather than the wrong ones. At Carriage Greens, we help our guests plan and execute beautiful outdoor weddings.
